Camp Basics

Borgess Run Camp has two starting dates, the first kicking off the 21-week camp for marathoners (and half marathoners who choose to start early).  The 13-week camp is for half marathoners, 10kers and 5Kers.

Yes, we run outside!

Campers are assigned to event-specific teams based on their current condition and pace.  Teams meet every week, have regular communications, enjoy a mid-week run (optional) and support each other.  The team concept is so central to the success of camp that “drop ins” are not allowed.  Some team adjustments are made in the early weeks of camp to ensure compatibility of pace.

Basic camp is $75. Distance camp is $100. Campers have access to an e-notebook and online training guide, along with helpful information. They receive coaching support, team support, on-course aid stations and post-run refreshments. Campers may attend free clinics put on by camp coaches and support staff. And they receive a free hat.

Free, no-obligation Run Camp information night will be held November 29 and January 26.  Each is at the Lawrence Education Center at Borgess Medical Center, starting at 6 p.m. Price increases go into effect the day after the information nights.

Packet Pickup for Distance Camp is from 4 to 8 p.m. at Gazelle Sports on December 6 and January 31 for Basic Camp. Both packet pickup dates also offer scheduled clinics on how to dress and running shoes.

NOTE: Organizers may limit total enrollment to ensure a quality experience for all campers. Registrations will be accepted on a first-come basis, and if Run Camp is capped, it will be announced on the web site and registration will be closed.
